There was an air of expectation as people came in, some with a touch of red on their clothing.
It was an occasion put together by the Singles Fellowship of the Fountain of Life Church in Lagos to celebrate this year’s Valentine season, a special programme tagged ‘Unscripted’ on Monday, 13 February, 2017.
The programme began with prayers and subsequently praise and worship. After that, the people were encouraged to interact with one another as that was the essential purpose of the fellowship.
As promised, there were different events that were lined up to make sure everyone had a good time; from the drama to the comedy skit and the different games that were played.
The fun part of the programme was when a young man called Minister Sam, picked out a young lady whom he told the congregation that he had loved and serenaded her with a love song, the enthusiastic crowd made up of young people sang along with him, begging the very shy lady to give the young man a chance.
Then came the hour for the Word but before that, the choir, aptly named Oil of Favour, ministered a song by Hezekiah Walker titled, “God Favours Me”.
Exhorting the people, the Pastor of the Singles Fellowship, Kunle Oshakunle, spoke on the love of God in relation to the Bible verse in Ephesians 3:18-19. He described the immensity of God’s love and how it was incomprehensible to the human mind. Describing God not like love but as love, the minister encouraged the people to always hold on to God as their top priority because His love is perfect.
Going a step further, he made a call to all who wanted to partake of this generous love, saying that the only way to access this is by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Personal saviour. He emphasised this part and said it was the key purpose of the programme and the heart cry of God, to reconcile men to God. People responded to the call and souls were added to the kingdom of God.
Oshakunle then made a second call to all who were broken-hearted and hurting in the audience and encouraged them in the Lord. Reminding them that despite the abandonment of man or disappointments they had suffered, God is enough to satisfy them and in His own time, He would perfect their lives.
To stick to the theme of love, many people received gifts, both monetary and otherwise with one special lady winning a full bridal makeup for her upcoming wedding and her fiance receiving the gift of a custom-made suit.
Those who attended left the programme with the assurance of the love of God and content to bask in the knowledge of this great love.
